Field Service Engineer

Data-Wave is celebrating 12 successful years of selling and servicing POS Systems to restaurants throughout the Chicago land area. Our continued growth requires an addition to our Service Department. The individual we seek is bright and creative; is a problem solver; likes to “dig†for the answers; can think on his/her feet and can learn from and contribute to a team. Must work well in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment. The Engineer will work closely with customers to configure, deploy and administer security and network changes according to specifications, while targeting to resolve ticket escalations. THE FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER WILL SPEND 70% OF TIME IN THE FIELD SUPPORTING POS SYSTEMS THROUGHOUT THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. This incumbent must have proven competence in the following areas:
- Windows Networking
- Windows Operating Systems
- IPv4
- NetBIOS over TCP/IP
- Hardware and software firewall configurations
- Computer security principles
- Group policy implementation
- Physical layer installation and troubleshooting
- TIA/EIA-568-A / B
- Experience providing physical network support to on-site or off-site locations
The Field Service Engineer will be required to:
- Service small networks (2 to 15 nodes) throughout the Chicagoland area.
- Provide timely and accurate responses for incident handling, incident response, and escalation management in a 24 x 7 operational environment.
- Be responsible for installing, operating and maintaining networks and firewalls
- Resolve ticket escalations.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to customer questions and concerns.
- Manage multiple tasks independently and the ability to prioritize accordingly.
- Work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Work closely with DataWave management and customers to configure and deploy networks and changes according to their specifications.
- Assist clients with inquiries involving product offers.
- Perform any other supplemental duties as assigned by management and/or the company.
Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Network and Security Certifications a plus
- 2 year hands-on network management and / or installation work experience
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer focus
- Self-directed and motivated with the ability to work independantly as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication, time management, decision-making and organizational skills.
- Required flexibility of schedule and hours to provide rotating on-call support for network escalations.
- Reliable transportation required
Salary range - 28K to 36K, based on experience.
